How This Works

 

Well, since you asked so nicely...

The JALBC matchmaking process consists of several steps and gets pretty detailed, but that's because we want to offer you the best match possible. Our questionnaire is designed to tap into what really matters in relationships (nope, we didn't rip it off from eHarmony - it was written by Mel after months of deliberation!). After you fill those out and submit a picture, we invite you to come in for an interview.

In order to accomodate all of our clients, we schedule our interviews at various times throughout the week. They are most often done in a group setting and take less than an hour of your time. We call them "group auditions" and beverages are usually served. Follow-up interviews are done via phone.

 

How is this service different from other services? Why group interviews? What if I want a one-on-one interview?

We're different because we listen and because we understand how relationships work. Our only goal is to get our clients out on succesful dates that have a strong likelihood of leading to the kind of relationship they are looking for. Matchmaking is one part science, which is why we're on the up and up of the latest psychology and scientific studies related to attraction and relationships, and one part art — there's no known formula (we are working on figuring it out though...)

The group interviews resulted from (again) years of trial and error. A small, intimate group setting (no more than 4 people) allows for a greater representation of your personality. In a group setting, not only do we get to know you personally, we watch how you interact with and respond to others. Mel's background as a body language nerd and social dynamics expert allows her to get more information about you than in an individual interview. Plus, it ends up being more fun and you might make some new friends...

The First Step

Click here for our initial match form. This one is very basic and shouldn't take more than a few minutes to fill out. Once you've submitted it, one of our reps should email you with a link to our more detailed questionnaire. You can expect to spend about 30-45 minutes filling that one out but don't worry, there are no wrong answers.

Your pic stays private but we still need one for our records. The picture you submit should be current (within 3 months), kind of close up (showing at least your top half) and classy (no bikini shots, please!)

Pictures are for our internal use only and will never be posted on our website or shown to other JALBC clients without your explicit consent.
